Holy Crap We Have a Lot of Stuff

My biggest fear with this move was that I wouldn't be able to adequately deal with all my stuff in time (ie pack/purge everything before the movers came).  As some of you may know, D and I have a lot. of. stuff.  Way too much stuff.  Like, borderline hoarder amounts of stuff.  And while I'm happy to report I managed to eliminate probably around 80% of my stuff, I still feel like I ended up bringing too much with me and now the struggle is finding a place for all of it.  I will now tell you a story in pictures so you can try to grasp even a small inkling of what has dominated my life for the past several months.

Literally everything in the above photos has been rehomed.  NONE OF IT CAME TO CALIFORINA.  That is a lot of stuff.  Take a good look--there's a lot going on in these pictures. And that's not even counting the 6 bags of clothes and 4 bags of purses I got rid of earlier.

Now, here's what did make it to California:

Same pile of boxes as the first picture, from the top this time so you can see it's 3 ROWS DEEP.

The boxes and totes in this picture are 3 rows deep, folks.  The red chair was already there but what you can't see is the three guitars behind it that weren't.

There is another rocking chair in the master bedroom as well as a dresser and a cedar chest, and there is a dressing table as well as another antique chair in the second bedroom.

Now, before you start judging me I want you to know that easily 75% of what you see there belongs to D, not me.  There are boxes there with books and game consoles that date back to his teens ffs!  Not to mention the boxes of papers and albums that belonged to his father.  So he's got a pretty big job ahead of him on that score.

Here's the thing: our condo in California is already overflowing with D's stuff (because he has a board game addiction and hoarding tendencies) so now I'm having a difficult time finding places to put the stuff I brought.  Now my biggest fear is we're going to end up with stacks of boxes and totes that never get unpacked, and that the clutter will drive me insane and I will murder D in his sleep.

  1. That is literally half of my struggle with my move. I purged and downsized to the point MOST if not all of the “things” here are not mine. We just bought a home and his purging is about to start(regardless if he’s aware or not lol)
